Windermere Theatre, 213 Wellsian Way in Richland
Friday & Saturday at 7 p.m., Sunday 3 p.m.

The Academy of Children’s Theatre’s newly founded alumni association is presenting the 1980 comedy 9 to 5: the Dolly Parton musical as a fundraiser on Aug 5th and 6th at 7p and Aug 7th at 3p at the Windermere Theatre located at 213 Wellsian Way in Richland. The show is rated PG13 and follows all the feisty scandalous fun of the original movie. Tickets are by donation with general admission seating. Doors open an hour before showtimes with snacks and beverages available.

Originally starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton, these roles are performed by local ACT alumni Adrienne Fletcher, Erin Dickey, and Molly Holleran with Greg Levy featured as the company boss and Cathy Kelly as his devoted secretary. The story follows the movie as the trio of working women live out their fantasies of overthrowing their boss and running the company themselves.

This is the first year of the ACT alumni association, informally referred to as The 509 Club. The alumni association works to support the mission of ACT with fundraisers, 21+ events, and virtual cross-country networking. Membership to the alumni association is open to any adult who participated in or taught an ACT class or who performed onstage or helped backstage on an ACT production. All membership info can be found on the ACT website, www.AcademyOfChildrensTheatre.org, or on The 509 Club facebook page.

There is little doubt that the Earth’s climate is changing, and if you harbor any, you have not been paying attention to the weather recently.

Controlling climate change will require global action. But global action starts with local action. Washington State government has chosen to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by requiring all future electric energy generation to be met through renewable resources, particularly wind and solar.  Which brings us to the current proposal to build a combined wind and solar energy project in the Horse Heaven Hills south of the Tri-Cities.

Our August 18 Badger Forum will examine the Horse Heaven Hills project from four different perspectives.
