Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe is a carefully crafted tale meshing Poe’s best-known works into a mesmerizing glimpse into the mind of the master of the macabre. This show will elicit feelings of stress, dread, and above all, what Usher calls “the grim phantasm, FEAR.”
Richland Players production of Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe will run weekends from October 28th thru November 13th, 2022. Seasoned Richland Player, Christi Valle, is directing. The veteran cast of Richland Players, Travis Franks and Michael Aardal, star as mirror images of Poe in this gothic thriller. Richland Players are excited to introduce Mary Nelson as Madeline Usher and Devin Simpson as The Raven.

Bateman Island Bird Walk – November 5, 2022

Bateman Island is a major birding hotspot in the Mid-Columbia. Located at the confluence of the Yakima and Columbia Rivers, the island and surrounding waters are teeming with a huge variety of birds and other wildlife throughout the year. Over 230 species of waterfowl, songbirds, raptors and shorebirds have been documented in a variety of habitats. Up to 60 species are typically found on a Saturday walk.
Lisa Hill and other knowledgeable birders will lead the walk. Bird enthusiasts of all experience levels are welcome, especially beginning birders.
– The island is located in Richland, WA, accessed from Columbia Park Trail.
– From Hwy 240, take the Columbia Center Blvd exit, go north toward the river.
– Turn left on Columbia Park Trail and park on the right in the lot of Wye Park, or in spaces flanking the road.
– Go through the walking access of the chain link fence and proceed to the island causeway.
– First Saturday walks begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. A full loop hike around the island is about 2.5 miles, but participants may leave at any time. The group gathers in the Wye Park parking lot.

LIGO Hanford Public Tour – November 12, 2022
LIGO Hanford Observatory is pleased to announce that it has resumed its “Second Saturday” free public tours under the following conditions:
– All LHO visitors over the age of 18 will be required to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination (physical card or photo of card). We define “fully vaccinated” as at least two shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, OR one shot of Johnson & Johnson.
– Masking may be required on the day of your tour. Bring a mask, just in case. Visitors must adhere to LHO’s masking policy on the day of the tour.
– Registration is now required.
Tours depart from the new LIGO Exploration Center (LExC). Please park first in LExC’s parking lot/overflow lot.

Special Olympics Washington – November 18-20, 2022

The 2022 State Fall Games presented by Broadmoor RV will host more than 1,000 participants from around the state. Athletes will compete in bowling, flag football, volleyball and gymnastics. Competitions will take place throughout the weekend in Kennewick, Richland, and Pasco.
Volunteers are needed to help support the competition venues and the events that add to the athlete experience! Individuals, groups and families (ages 11 and up) are needed to help with check-in, merchandise sales, lunch distribution, parking attendant, and other support roles. Competition roles include Lane Monitors (bowling) and Line Judges (volleyball).

Annual American Red Cross Turkey Trot – November 24, 2022

The American Red Cross Turkey Trot is a signature Tri-Cities event held each year on Thanksgiving morning at Columbia Park in Kennewick. This year, Tri-Citians will come together on Thursday, November 24th to “trot” a 5K or 1-mile track before enjoying their big meals. We are excited to welcome NXS Crossfit (Natural Selection Crossfit) as our official pre-race warm up partner! Not going to be in the Tri -ities for the holiday? That’s ok – options are also available for anyone wanting to trot with us no matter where you are.
Commemorative t-shirt sizes and quantities are limited, so register early to ensure the size you want.
All proceeds from the 2022 Turkey Trot support the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign.
