Virtual online via Zoom
From 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost: $5 for non members – must register

The May 9 Badger Forum will address the issues of curriculum adoption and banning school books. The program will feature the perspectives of four local panelists: Rick Jansons, President of the Richland School Board; and Micah Valentine, Vice Chairman of the Kennewick School Board. Joining them will be two local parent-activists Annette Rose, of Moms for Liberty; and Carrie Hallquist, from Stop Moms for Liberty.

Note: In recent elections, classroom curriculum and library books regarding Critical Race Theory, U.S. history and gender issues have taken center stage. Some states have limited content; others work to maintain them.  This past legislative session, the Kennewick School Board passed a resolution in opposition to a proposed state law mandating the inclusion of historically marginalized groups. No doubt, this and similar issues will surface again.
