Tumbleweed Music Fest (virtual) – started September 3
The pandemic has turned the entertainment world upside down. We all miss gathering together for concerts, coffeehouses, workshops, and of course, the Tumbleweed Music Festival in Howard Amon Park. So, what is the best way to experience the Tumbleweed Music Festival this year? Virtually, of course! 10th Annual Andy’s North and Retread Car Show – September 4

PNNL Virtual Presentation: Voices of the First Responder: Reflections on 9/11 to today – September 7

September 11 was an event that stopped America in its tracks. The year 2021 marks the 20th anniversary and an opportunity to commemorate the impact 9/11 had on the first responders who heroically responded to the attacks and continue to operate on the front lines of homeland security. In the two decades after the tragedy, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) has produced impactful research and policy work that is making the United States and the world safer from large-scale terrorist events and natural disasters.
Please join Ann Lesperance, director of PNNL’s own Northwest Regional Technology Center, who will be moderating the discussion of several first responder leaders from the state of Washington, the Pacific Northwest region, and across the nation as they reflect on how first responders rose to the occasion on that day and how first responder concerns are being addressed every day. The panel will also look to the future of how the nation is positioned to respond to widespread concerns, such as terrorist events and natural and man-made disasters. Ann will be moderating a live virtual panel discussion with first responders from Seattle and New York City.
Kicking off the session will be a compelling look back at how the events of 9/11 affected first responders, as well as a look toward the future.

Please join former government officials and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) staff who played pivotal roles in the creation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). These individuals were called to action in the events immediately after September 11, 2001, and continue to support national security to this day. Through a video-recorded remembrance and a moderated live virtual panel discussion, distinguished participants will discuss the heroic activities performed by PNNL personnel right after 9/11. Participants will discuss what PNNL and others did to support the creation of DHS, its mission, and vision. Lastly, panelists will explore the future of science and technology needed to support DHS and the whole of state, regional, and federal governments in the years to come.
We will also feature video recordings from elected officials and current DHS leadership.
Kicking off the session will be a compelling look back at how the events of 9/11 affected policy, government, and congressional perspective, as well as a look toward the future.

HBA – Parade of Homes to Go – September 11
Starts at Bethel Church, 600 Shockley Rd in Richland

Tickets: $25 (which includes admission to the HBA fall show on October 1-3)
Enjoy samples from 5 mobile eateries and tour two beautiful homes September 11 from 6-9 p.m. at the Parade of Homes To Go Premier Night! This is your opportunity to taste samples from some of the Tri-Cities’ favorite chefs and view participating Parade homes nearly a week before they open to the general public. Best of all 100% of net proceeds from the event will be donated to local charities including the Wishing Star Foundation!
